  1. Too much bass sound... that could mean you blew the sub... but you should check the levels for all of the speakers + sub.  Just play an action movie, and mess around with it until it sounds VERY crisp and clear (thats what I did).  And well... if an action movie sounds good... everything else will be just fine.

  2. Philips is a good buy. Its value for money....

Get an amplifier and connect your home theater to it.. it will improve the quality of sound.

  3. I think that you have to fine tune your system and room for perfect sound.

Start with your room. Treat is so that it is neither too live or dead. "Too much of bass" can be because of standing waves.

Place a carpet or hanging some heavy curtains to control annoying standing waves. You can use specialized treatments like tube-traps but they are expensive.

Check the phase of your sub and set it to give you more bass and then place your sub in your sitting position (your favorite chair) and crawl on your all fours all around in the room listening to some bass heavy track. Find a spot where the bass sounds tight and accurate and not boomy. Place your sub there.

Try placing your speakers a little away from the walls. There are multiple methods to determine the ideal placement of speakers but I suggest that you place them approximately as suggested by your manual and then shift the positions a little.

After you have conquered the standing waves and correctly placed your speakers and sub, check your system for calibration and delays and set them up using a setup disc (available in various kinds and even including video setups from all good electronic shops)

  4. Philip is a good company and since your product is in warranty, immediately call philip customer care and some executive will come and solve the problem free of cost within 24 hrs and if the problm cannot be rectified they will change the set and ofcourse free of cost because of these facilities we get from brand names i always purchase products from these companies...so nothing to worry!

  5. purchased mine before xmas.  cs rec I reset it (unplug it for couple minutes) several times to fix some of the quirky things going on.  finally returned it for new one and having same thing happening. Now trying to hook it up to new LCD Tv, not fun!  If its your speakers causing the problem and its under a 90 day warranty return it or exchange it, try calling their cs number, their very friendly although hard to understand!  Not open on weekends either!
