  1. It's like whatever metaphor you can imagine.

  2. you could say that. once you reach the top, you see the world completely. there are no limits to your vision when your on top.

  3. no, living is like climbing a mountain. philosophy just helps you to understand why.

  4. ...no, its like rowing a boat in the middle of the ocean looking for land...where is it...and dealing with all the indifference's of nature...

  5. "Keeping still is the mountain." - the I Ching

  6. That's one way of looking at it. I prefer to look at it like reading a book the more you read the smarter you are. and after your finished with one you always have another to chose.

  7. Yes!

And we're kitted with an Ice Pick of Rationality,  a Helmet of Faith, a Carabiner of Logic, a Harness of Valid Arguments, a Belay of Intuition, and Crampons of Debate...

...or is this taking the analogy too far?

  8. Philosophy is literally an upward and outward meditation.

Metaphorically it is upward (like a mountain)

and outward (like the vast expanse of the universe)

What this means is that Philosophy allows us to understand what our true nature (i.e. soul) is really like, and that is:

Unlimited, free, unbounded, immortal, unrestricted, etc
