in my books its not ok, you know some faiths believe in not putting holes in your body and will not let others join if they have pierced body parts, I think you should wait until your baby can say hey mom I want pierced ears, its her body not yours.

If you are talking about piercing a babies ears...they say before 6 months because their nerve endings have not completely grown in to their limbs so they won't feel much if any pain!

I wouldnt do it!  If I can prevent my baby from having any pain.. that is what I am doing! Sticking a needle in her ear will hurt. She will cry.  And you let it happen. Its cute of course for a little girl to have her ears done.. I just wouldnt be able to bring myself to do it. Sorry. I would feel so bad. Wait until she is old enough to know what she is doing.. getting it done doesnt hurt that bad so itll be okay when she is older..she will atleast know what she is getting herself into.  At this young age she has no clue what is going on! Dont put her through that pain.

When we were growing up my parents pierced our hears at 3 months so I will be piercing my daughter's ears when she is about 5 months.

I know it will be quick and painless.  I know it can not be worse than those shots she gets.

If you are talking about ears, my granddaughter had her's pierced when she was 3 months.  Some people pierce babies' ears before they reach one month.  I think that a baby with pierced ears looks cute but I would not like to see a baby pierced anywhere else.

if you do decide to do it, ask your baby's pediatrician to do it.  don't have some teenager at the mall with a piercing gun do it.  if your pediatrician won't, do your research and find a reputable piercing parlor where they pierce with a needle, not a gun.

personally, i won't let my kids get anything pierced until they are 18 and get do it without my permission.  i wish my ears had never been pierced.  i ended up being allergic to everything and my ears just have nasty scars on them.

well i got my ears pierced at 2 weeks by my doctor so i dont even remember it but it should be fine

I can't believe all the people who are for it or because they had it done to them, I agree with the one answer wait at least untill she is old enough to ask about it and know what it is , and even then I would say wait till a little later. But a baby , why not give her a tattoo, dye her hair and some lipo suction?

yes.  I have seen small infants wearing ear-rings (before they reach the crawling milestone).  

My daughter is 2 months old.  I am not considering piercing for her.  I will wait until she asks for it.  I remember my own piercing experience, piercing was painful for me, so it must be painful for a baby.  You will also risk infection at and around the wounded area.

I think it's just fine... as long as it's just ears and I would only get a girls ears pierced. Nothing against people who do get their son's ears pierced... it's just my personal preference.

I had my ears pierced when I was 6 weeks old and I still love them. My Mom said I didn't cry and my 8 year old aunt was there and she bawled.

If the child doesn't want the earrings later in life they can just take them out.... it's not a big deal.

So according to some of the other answerers logic... a baby should have the right to decide? What about getting their hair cut? Should that be their right too? My child is MY child for a reason... i'm still going to pierce their ears.

I was going to get my daughters done at 4 months. I decided not to i am going to let her decide if she wants it done when she is older then i will take her. Also the piercer telling me i would have to hold my babies head still no matter what kinda creaped me out. i think if your gonna get it done go to your doctor for it also.

Piercing a baby is not okay. You are modifying their body without their permission. You wouldn't tattoo your baby, would you?

What if your child grows up and doesn't WANT her ears pierced? What if she dedicates herself to a religion that prohibits piercing and she is embarrassed or ashamed of it?

Not to mention earrings can get caught on baby blankets and be yanked out, they can get horribly infected, and babies will tug at them.

Not to mention, it hurts. Why would you want to cause your baby unecessary pain?

I personally think that piercing the ears of an infant is wrong. It is done purely for the sake of the parents, to "decorate" their babies. I would advise against it.

I don't see why its any more okay to pierce a baby's ears than to pierce her navel.  I wouldn't do either.  How do you know your baby wants a piercing?

Wait until your child says "Hey, I want my ears pierced"  Then its okay.

i got my girls ears done when they were both 5months old,,, no regrets, no infections, and im so happy i got them done!

EDIT- my mum peirced mine when i was a newborn, and i NEVER GOT MAD,,, what maKES some mums wait till their child is old enough to decide?

yes, its okay! Little girls with their ears pierced are adorable! I wouldn't do it earlier than 4 months, but I've known people that have done it at 2 months.
