  1. No. Mt Elbert is the highest point in CO at 14433. Pikes Peak is only 14110, which makes it number 30 in CO.

    Incidentally, Mt Massive, at 14421 the second highest Peak in CO was so favored by some as superior to Mt Elbert that they attempted to build a 20 foot cairn on top and thus boost it above Elbert.

    Pikes Peak does have a claim as one of the biggest vertical rises in Colorado, or even the U.S., since it rises straight from the plains of Colorado Springs where the other high Peaks are mostly surrounded on all sides by other mountains.


  2. No, that would be Mt. Elbert at 14, 433 feet. Pike's Peak is 31st tallest in Colorado.
