Is pilates good for figure skating? what are some good exercise tapes?

I'm working on the double sal, juvenile moves, and preliminary dance. I'm 15.

how much how often should I do pilates, and what are some good tapes?

and I'm going to start running. how far, fast, and often should I?

  1. There is a tape made by the NYC ballet company that takes you through a workout that the NYC ballet does everyday. This is the best tape I have found for off ice training. I know this isnt pilates but this was a good one I though I'd tell you about!

  2. Instead of pilates try yoga. Yoga works more on your core (abs.etc,) and that's what you need to work on for jumps espec if you break in the middle when trying to land them.

    When running, run at a moderate pace and just run until you can't run anymore and then run some more. It's all about pushing yourself past your limits to see results. I would try to run opposite the days you skate or every other day!

    Look for downloads off the internet or just buy a cheap tape from any store that sells them!
