I am just about to go and play Dungeons and Dragons with some friends (about 7 of us) - we are all in our thirties. I have never played before but have wanted to for a while. Is this sad or cool?

  2. im sorry to say but very sad

  3. it depends on how big your 'dragon' is

if youve got a big one then everything you do is super cool ;)

    have fun xx

  4. Its cool if you use real dragons.

  5. kinda sad man!

  6. dude, don't worry about it, i think anything somebody does that they have fun with is aweome. also if you enjoy that game, check out a card game called "munchkin" it's pretty much like D&D but it's funny too

  7. Nothing wrong with that if you enjoy the game. I'm 27, and I'm the youngest person in my group.

  8. if u like it you shoud play it dosent matter what other people think because nothing is better than having fun with freinds

  9. Hey, I'm in my 50's and have been playing D&D for over 30 years. Stephen Colbert and Vin Diesel also play, so you're in excellent company.

  10. I am 36, and regularly play Dungeons and Dragons (D&D).  I play with my family (my wife and kids), as well as with people local to the Kansas CIty area.  If you ask me, or any of the folks I play with, we would say it is cool :)  I know many different players, from different walks of life, with large variety of ages.  I've seen young kids playing, all the way through to retirees who play and enjoy the game as well.  Is it sad?  If you ask certain biased persons, they may say so.  I look at it differently.  We get together as friends, and enjoy doing a social activity together that doesn't require watching *other* people do things (e.g., sports events, movies... you aren't *doing* anything in those, you are *watching* other people enjoy themselves!)

If you've never played an RPG (role-playing game) before, it will be a bit different than what you are used to as a game.  In my experience, it's more of a cooperative game rather than a clearly defined set of 'winners' and 'losers'.  Some folks don't grasp that concept very well, and may never really enjoy the game (some refuse to even try to understand the concept, such as a co-worker of mine).  Others relish the experience, and the challenges without the need to say 'who won?' at the end of a session.

  11. sad sad sad.  Go play a game that is a little more fun.  Grab an Xbox or PS

  12. It's not sad or cool. It doesn't really matter as long as you enjoy it! Who cares what people think!

  13. who cares wether it's sad or not as long as you enjoy yourselves

  14. Cool.

Lots of people play D&D and other tabletop RPGs.

The way I see it is, what's everyone else that age getting up to that's so much cooler? We play D&D on a Monday night (we're in our thirties), most other people our age are doing... what? Sitting in front of the telly, most likely! While you are socialising with a large group of your friends.

It's not as if they're all out doing the things that we considered cool back in our teens - and even if they were, it wouldn't be cool at their age anyhow. I think there are few things sadder to see than someone in their thirties blind drunk outside a pub, or on the dancefloor in a nightclub where the average age is 19.

I hope you enjoy your game. 4th edition is taking some getting used to, but it's looking like it might be better overall than 3.5. The key to a good game is getting a good DM who can weave a decent story arc and make every player feel involved, so that it's not just a series of combats with no real point to them.

  15. SAD is what i think but u should do wat u wanna do !!!
