  1. Yes. I have been on pointe for 5 years and it is taxing on your body. You should talk to your teacher and doctor before you go splurge on a pair of shoes. Your back needs to be fully developed and your feet need to be strong enough. If you do end up going on pointe soon be prepared for blisters, foot soakings and plenty of ruined pedicures.

  2. Yes...pointe is hard. As a male dancer, I was required to take a pointe class (shoes and all) while on scholarship. I was so happy that my dog ate my shoes (he really did).

Pointe is so hard, but if ballet is truly something you want, you need to make the sacrifice.

  3. um, everything hard at first. wen i 1st got my pointes on the first day i count even balance on pointe. but after a month i can do pirouettes  and stuff. its not that hard. its just the first week is hardest because you have to get used to pointe.

my shoes dont hurt me a bit!  seriosly , thought i wet my shoes so it helped them soften. i dnt wear padding. :)

  4. yes it does hurt a lot, my ankles toes knees ad legs kill every time and for days afterwards.

but it is sooo worht it!!!after a while it stops hurting and it just looks beautiful and its soooo worth it.

  5. Pointe is very hard and painful, but you get used to the pain.  Make sure to tape up your toes put a divider between your big toe and the second toe, if your toes don't go straight across, and use a toe pad.  To start with you are going to want to use the barre.  Just do repetitions of releves in sixth (feet parallel and facing forward) , first and second positions.  You really want to build up your calve muscles.  Eventually you can use the barre and just use one leg.  Keep working at it and you will get it and get over the pain.

  6. I am a beginner Pointe dancer and I can say that it honestly was not easy but it was not extrodinarily hard. There will be pain, to be sure, but it is definately worth it.  How much pain exactly depends on many variables like your calf, ankle and foot strength, the fit of the shoe and your tequnique. Before I got my Pointe shoes I was a gymnast so that helped with my leg strenth and toleance for pain. I felt the same drive to go on pointe so don't let your mom stop you from acheiving your dreams!
