  1. It depends whos making it, some manufactuer ties strings at the ends to keep the meat inside its casings. some do a twist or even knot the ends so it depends on the one whos making it.


  2. I suppose it certainly can be as any sausage can.  But at my deli it does not have the strings.  You can also find it prepacked by Hillshire Farms, among others, that does not have the strings.
