Is pollution control board is working in india? if so why rivers get pollute give alternate way for pollution?

I heard through news papers that the rivers of india get polluting very badly because of pollution from citizens,factories etc. but i came to know that we are having Pollution controll boards what thery are doing in this regard. I dont know the duties of that board. Please any one help me to this question.

All is joint venture. Only PCB can not work. PCB can not stop all at all times. All should be responsible. Govt. should guide people but people has no place to throw wastage. Rivers are easy place to throw wastages.

Solution to environment problems lies not in framing of rules but in implementing them.everyone high or low,and every organisation small or big should be more disciplined in using the natural resources that are becoming less and less.Certain areas over the river bed should be  reserved for green growth.drainages shold be allowed to eavaporate in the atmosphere and effluents should not be let into the seaor river.factories should be situated far from rivers and efflunts hould be treated and recycled.

well, our pollution control board may not be up to the mark but its the politicians affiliated with these industrialists that issue stay orders on the board's actions against such factories.

There are many loop holes at grass root level , for eg. people are to engrosed in themsleves due to which such matters seem very futile to them.

For a start you can oppose your family, your colony to submerge the ganesh idol during the ganesh utsav.

Collect a group of people and ask people to stop washing bathing,etc. adn help them dig another pit with simple drainage facility elsewhere.
