  1. Only thing i can add to these good answers is this. You may want to check into some pool lessons. If you have a pool hall nearby give them a call and see if they can hook you up with a certified instructor. They can at least get you off to a good start with proper stance and stroke mechanics. And if you choose to keep going they will work into position play, english , game strategies and more. I don't think lessons are too expensive but i can't say for sure cause i've never had any. It is better to develop your muscle memory while playing properly than learning things the wrong way and trying to undo that muscle memory later on. Good luck to ya.

  2. Also consider when practicing make the same shot allot

    of times in a row,

Keep resetting a shot, then move on,

  3. The basic principal of the game is very simple.  I have been playing now for around 12 years and I'm still learning.  Its a great game though.  Good luck and keep rackn em up!

  4. The basics like holding the cue properly and braking is easy....getting good at shooting and setting up your next shot takes practice but it is still fun while learning.  Like anything you have to keep at it on a regular basis to get better.

  5. It is easy you just need to time to get better.  Once you get good you have to keep playing.  If you just stop you will lose what you gained.  So yes it is easy but you have to keep at it.

  6. old adage a day to learn lifetime to master... play as often as possible and make sure you have someone around that knows what they are doing,  bad habits form easy and are hard to break.  but never forget this very important thing.... have fun with it.  so often i see someone working with a beginer and they talking about english and draw and leave. the person they with has a confused look on there face.  i make it a practice to work on my leave when playing someone new to the game.  i try to leave them easy shots just so they can get used to the feel of it all and build confidence.  got couple friends forever ruined because they are "no good" such a shame really.

  7. Anthing is easy to learn...it is the "doing" that makes it hard....a very simple game and you can learn it very easy....mastering it is anothing thing....need to spend lots of time practicing...watching....reading and back to practicing!

  8. The fundamentals and rules of the game are exceptionally easy to learn. Mastering technique and strategy will take you an entire lifetime, but it is time that is going to be well spent. I've been playing in the APA league pool for going on 23 years and there is always something new to learn.

I suggest you pick a book up by Robert Byrne titled "Standard Book of Pool and Billiards". It is full of illustrations and easy to understand instructions for every pool player ranging from the novice to the seasoned pro. The author has a great sense of humor and is a must read for anyone thinking about picking up a cue.

  9. yes, if you take your time to learn, and practise hard, then you should get good in no time. it took me quite a while to learn, but now im a pro because i worked hard, and you should too!
