  1. According to my husband who has been a vegetarian for 13 years, it is indeed a whole grain.

    He is currently sitting beside me on the couch eating vegan chili with corn cake.  :)


  2. Yes, according to the Whole Grains Council, "whole grains or foods made from them contain all the essential parts and naturally-occurring nutrients of the entire grain seed."  Popcorn is absolutely a whole grain.

  3. Corn is a whole-grain. It is in the family Poaceae (grasses) and genus: Zea (tall grasses). It is mostly starchy like grains, but also has a good amount of fiber. Non-scientifically speaking though, if I ate corn with my meal, I'd count it as a vegetable.
