  2. No its kinda dry and mushy. If ya wanna make it sweet add honey.Taste good

  3. not sweet unless you add sugar or honey!

  4. If you use sweetened condensed milk you get a smooth milky porridge without having to use sugar.

  5. Golden syrup in porridge is to die for

  6. what exactly is porridge?

  7. Honey, fruit or a sugar substitute

  8. Splenda or any other artificial sweetner would be good for you or you could add some sultanas or other dried fruit to sweeten it....mind you this will add to the calories.

  9. OMG! In Scotland, the home of porridge, it's salted! If you live south of the border, try adding honey. But don't tell any Scottish friends, they might lynch you.

  10. No, it is not sweet.  It contains carbohydrate though.  If you want to make it sweet then you could use sweeteners such as Canderel or similar.

Or try a few drops of fruit juice of your choice.  That has natural sugars from the concentrated fruit pulp.

  11. add banana's. sugar (splenda ofcourse, lol), fruits such as berries etc, honey...anything swee healthily. I recommend banana and honey! xx

  12. Traditionally it would be made with water, and have salt added, so no, its not supposed to be sweet.  However, I think most people (including me) make it with milk rather than water, and prefer it sweet to salty.

Obviously you can add sugar, honey or jam to the porridge after you have cooked it to make it sweeter.  Like you though, I always prefered not to add sugar.   A great way to add sweetness without adding sugar is to stir in a handful of sultanas and a pinch of cinnamon before you cook it.  It smells great, tastes great, and some of the sweetness comes out of the sultanas.  I'm sure other dried fruits would also work.

Another low fat breakfast to try is apple bircher...you add a bit of apple juice to some porridge oats and leave it over night.  In the morning, stir in some low fat yogurt, and then add in whatever else you want - grated apple, sliced banana, stewed rhubarb, blueberries, honey, seeds.

  13. add sugar honey or a little jam.

  14. some are tasteless, sweet and salt

  15. Its not naturally sweet, but when I make mine, I put a generous spoonful of natural Greek yogurt with it to sweeten it.....and it makes it creamier too.

  16. i find it bitter without sugar an alternative prob would be honey

  17. Porridge isn't sweet unless you add in something sweet to it!

You can add dried fruits, golden syrup, any fruits of your choice, a swirl of cream or greek yoghurt, ice-cream syrup, chocolate sauce, honey,a little low sugar jam.

I would treat myself to a small amount of any of the above as the porridge is really satisfying so will result in less snacking between meals.

You can buy microwave porridge which is convenient to make but not as cheap as making  from scratch from oats.

  18. 1. you can add artificial sugar after cooking for taste.

    2. honey

    3. can add salt and vegetables(peas, carrots. corns)

  19. Porridge is just oats and milk so it's tasteless.

If you want like....a typical sugar taste with it you can use artificial sugar. It has like 1kcal per spoonful or somthing silly like that! Just don't use too much though, because it's more sweeterthan sugar.

You could use honey. That's nice and sweet :)

    Dried fruit would be nice.

  20. I used to know this family of bears, and they liked their porridge sweet.  The Baby Bear's porridge was just right - as I recall.

But for humans I think it just tastes like cooked grain.
