Isaac Hayes, who just died, overcame poverty. Would he and the arts have been better of had he been aborted? I wonder what his family would say.

  1. If the alternative is being turned out onto the streets or sold into prostitution, then I would say yes. Both these practices are very common in poor countries.

  2. In general, I don't support abortion for any reason with the exception of medical reasons (the pregnancy is endangering the mother's life, etc.) or in cases of rape. So no, I don't consider poverty a valid reason for an abortion. Poverty level women can get birth control for free. There is no reason why they should need to get an abortion.

  3. If you're poor, how can you afford an abortion

  4. I'm not for or against abortion. There are certain circumstances that I agree with abortions. If someone is raped, then I agree. If someone was just careless, then no I don't agree.

I think the problem is that people blame poverty for accidental pregnancy. This is 2008. There is no such thing as accidental pregnancy. Planned Parenthood is free for people under 18. You can get free condoms at any health clinic at any age. If you absolutely cannot afford a condom or any form of birth control, then you should refrain from having s*x. It's that easy.

Poverty does not equate to stupidity. You can easily prevent pregnancy by not having s*x. Like I said, if rape happens, then I understand abortion. Not everyone is raped every day, though.

  5. Wow, this is a dumb question.

Of course it would not have been better for the world NOT to have I.H.

Should a woman who cannot afford to feed the children she has terminate an embryo?  YES.

Should the WHOLE world be ashamed that such a choice has to be made ?

    YES.

    End world poverty.  Today.

  6. for one, there are clinic's that offer free or low cost abortions in some states. but in my in my personal opinion; the only reason i'd ever abort a baby, is if i were raped; even then i'd have to consider the life i was about to cut short, and place the child up for adoption.or if my life was in danger and the only way it could be saved, was by having surgery, and it was necessary for the abortion.

there are always other options, adoption or allow your family to care for the child if their willing. anymore today some memebers of society are all too willing to throw away a life, and calling it a mistake.

in most states, you can leave the baby at an emergancy room, and no charges will be filed against you.sadly, though through the news, this hasnt been taken advantage of the way it should be.

  7. Since most people living in poverty don't attempt suicide, the obvious answer is no.

  8. No poverty is not, giving a kid a less than ideal start is better than no start at all IMO.

Besides, if your really that poor, just put the baby up for adoption.

  9. Chimmychanga, you can actually obtain them on a payment plan.

But to answer the quistion its no worse then some of the other reasons people use.

  10. Poverty is never a valid reason for an abortion.

  11. Abortion is not the answer!  Abortion is murder!

  12. Can't you be a little smarter and not give one stupid example of a man who was born poor and became rich later in his life ?? How often does that happen ? How about the billion Indians, Africans, Chinese.... who are born into poverty and live in poverty, and die in poverty ? If there were any justice and any real child welfare laws that actually cared about children poor people would NOT be allowed to have children, or maybe not more than one child.

  13. Considering poor people give birth and raise children all the time, not particularly.

  14. Yes, poverty is a valid reason.  Would the world be better off if Hitler was aborted?  We can do this all day.

  15. I love how pro-choicers are so elitist.  If you don't have money you shouldn't be having kids!  Abort that child.  They probably get on others for being prejudiced against something too, which would make them hypocrites.

No it's not a valid reason.

  16. You never know. You can't tell the future so you wouldn't know if the child would be in poverty for their whole life. I just think people should look at other options like adoption before deciding to abort, I think it should only be a last resort.
