  1. Yes. If its that early in your pregnancy, just wait to have the blood test. The insurance should kick in within a few weeks. Besides, some OBGyns won't even see you until you're around 10 weeks.

  2. It depends group or individual?

For individual policies pregnancy is considered a pre-existing condition. In fact individual insurance companies won't even issue coverage to the husband or children of someone that is currently pregnant. Individual policies usually have a 6 to 9 month waiting period you have to wait before conception can occur otherwise you would not be covered.

For group coverage pregnancy is not considered a pre-existing condition.

  3. If his policy is a group insurance through an employer and you are being added due to a qualifying event (marriage, loss of your insurance or an open enrollment period) then pregnancy cannot be considered pre-existing.

If this is an individual policy, then it MIGHT be considered pre-existing if you had no coverage of your own prior to being added to the policy. But more info is needed to give you a better answer.

  4. Usually.  You will have to check the particular policy conditions.
