Question:

Is prison regime tough enough to act as a deterrent for persistent re offenders?

Or should we make prison a place to be feared , by taking away luxuries, perks and the cushy life. I know that you have to have goals for prisoners to aim for, or the chances of rehabilitation are less likely, but in my opinion prison is just not a scarey enough place to deter reoffending what are your opinions

Let's see...does the idea of getting free food, free clothing, free health and dental care, free internet, a free gym, not having to work if you do not want to, being allowed to hang out, watch TV, play football, work out in the gym, etc all day deter crime?  I really do not think so.  The perks should be removed and prison should be a punishment for the crimes a person chose to commit.  And make them work for their food and clothing, etc.  The law-abiding have to, why shouldn't the criminals?
