I always thought that processed cheese had little nutritional value. Does anyone know if this is true? I understand it's made w/ similar ingredients as regular cheese.

  1. Processed cheese is actually among the most unhealthy things you can eat. Not only does it lack many of the essential nutrients in real cheese (protein, vitamin D, calcium, and bacteria necessary for healthy digestive function to name a few), but it also contains high amounts of unnecessary saturated- and trans-fats. Many brands are made from a water and oil base instead of milk. As a general rule, the more processed it is, the less healthy it is.

  2. i buy the unwrapped cheese, american.

I think the plastic wrap makes it taste like plastic.

some of the processed cheese won't melt if you want it too.

I buy either Walmart brand or Kraft.  they are the best.

    borden cheese is awful..

  3. Yes - it has been through so many processes to make it a certain taste and colour that it bears little resemblance to fresh cheese.  Its loaded with colourings ,sugar, preservatives etc.
