i am curious how much money pro player makes?

other than the glamours top players getting all the endorsments and commercials, etc., can a pro player, say #100 make a decent living?

i understand most players have to take care of their traveling expenses, equipments, lodging, etc. so where is the "break even ranking" if you will, to pay the bills as a pro player?

  1. Here you can see the top 100 earnings for men and women this year. As you can tell, they make a decent amount of money, but nowhere near the 100th ranked person in other sports such as baseball, basketball, or football. You will also note the huge difference between the men and women

  2. Yes, but it depends how many tournaments they win. I believe if you make it in the 3rd or 4th round and lose, you still get payed. Many players also get payed for wearing and advertising clothing companies.

  3. OH YA JUST ASK ROGER FEDERER HES MADE $40,979,981

  4. u only make money if u win... I think Fed has more money than a player in the 100's

  5. If the player doesn't come from a rich family (the Williams sisters certainly weren't, originally!), then he/she has to rely on sponsors, which could be the local barber and/or car dealership and/or the "kindness of strangers". For example, during juniors, college, or satellite events - - and even pro events - - some people open their homes to lower-ranked players who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford hotels, cars, restaurants, etc. I know people who have done so, and it has been a great experience for all concerned, especially when the players come from different countries. So, the "break even" point depends on the player and his/her situation. If a player is good, then he/she will pick-up more and more sponsors along their career; if not, then he/she will just have to make do or give up. It's much the same as for any other job!
