  1. If you are Canadian you don't need any proof, just a driver's license. My folks have been staying in the US for years without any documents. If you are Mexican, they you won't use the border, you'll take a hike through a desert.


  2. Not at all.  Many people don' t stay in hotels, but stay with friends or family or in their RV.  They will ask where you were, how long you stayed - may ask where you stayed and why you were there.  Will definitely ask what you are bringing back with you.
