Is psychic Sylvia Browne for real?

I personally don't think so she is. I agree, it is indeed very sad when people take advantage of others. It's why i can't stand her.

Is she fake?  Well, that's an awful difficult thing to show in a scientific test, or even in many scientific tests. One can always claim, "oh, but in different circumstances where these stifling controls aren't hampering her abilities, she's much more accurate". And you wouldn't be able to disprove that, although a summary of her total predictions and total success rate would tell much of the story.

But really the above is an exercise in shifting the burden of proof, because if Sylvia Browne wants us to believe she has these extraordinary abilities, it's up to her to give us the evidence. Up until now she's been a miserable failure at that (my opinion, but if you dig into it and don't swallow her website misinformation I think you'll come to the same conclusion), so I think anybody is justified in assuming for the time being that she has no real abilities until she is able to come up with some compelling demonstration.

Oh, and she's a convicted felon too, convicted for grand theft and securites fraud. Just a good piece of info to keep in mind.

I think she is fake because of how she is so readily available. Sometimes in her answers, I just roll my eyes, because they are so vague. And people are sooo amazed. lol

None ever are.  It's too bad, really - it would be fun to be able to see into the future, but of course that would already mean that there's no way to change it, so that would kinda suck.  I guess seeing into the past is another thing, but then, why just guess?  You could just ask.

While I believe that psychic phenomena sometimes occur, I have very serious doubts about Sylvia Browne. If fact, I think it would be far better for someone to trust their own intuition than to believe what she has to say. That is especially true in light of the considerable income she derives from her "psychic abilities".

I haven't decided for sure. I guess it depends on if the people in her audiences are deceiving us or not. I think she gets some things right...but I don't believe that any of them are able to get everything right. She's trusting in her spirit guide. I don't trust any  spirits ..or most people on earth. (from experiences of trusting spirits and people)  I DO know that psychic things happen..even among posters on here and each other. I don't need any proof about that anymore..not that I believe everything..I don't. I think if I were psychic..I'd gladly tell everybody everything I could to help them..for free.That's probably why I'm poor. lol

I used to think she was. Then I read more and more and now I think she is a big time fake.

I mean come on, look at her website, she is selling jewelry for thousands of dollars. I think she is just out to make a quick buck.

Simply NO!!!!! There has never been a case where a phychic has been proven to have special powers. At best it is a good illusion or in some cases psycsomatic.

If she is for real, she doesn't use her talent and makes things up instead.  Maybe for paying customers she's real, but for the people who line up for a free question, they get what they pay for.

The correct answer is that no one knows.

No miss no matter how dramatic or tragic makes you not psychic just like no hit no matter how impressive confirms that you are psychic.

In order to determine if she has any psychic ability you would need to take all of her readings (or at least an excellent representative sample) and compare them to chance to see if her hits were statistically significant over chance.

No skeptics (as is typical since they don't actually conduct research) have ever taken the time to do this instead choosing to focus on her bigger media blunders which is excellent media savvy and bad science and reason.

On the the other hand none of her supporters have chosen to conduct this research either as they have a type of blind faith in her ability.

While I can certainly understand her choosing not to work with the Randi due to his bias and proven claims of dishonesty I do find it disappointing that she chooses not to cooperate with actual scientist in the investigation of her abilities.

However, if your already making millions I don't see the incentive for cooperating.

No one knows or has any valid evidence for or against her possible psi abilities.

I think Sylvia is a good person.  Her fault is that she is too commercial.  She likely feels the pressure to perform and to get results.  That is also a shame.
