My daughter is 8 years old, i think she is starting to grow pubic hair. I am a 34 year old mother. I have her, an 11 year old boy and a two year old boy. And i dont remember pubic hair itching at 8 years old. just 3 weeks ago i had to buy her deodorant. Could it be possible that my daughter is going through puberty at 8? I feel stupid that I dont know whats going on with my daughter, am I really a box of rocks or just being paranoid...Please help?

  1. She's probably just starting puberty. I think my pubic hair grew in at 8 or 9, and I got sort of small b*****s. I didn't start wearing deodorant until age 11 or so, but everyone's different.

I wouldn't worry about it for now. If she starts her period soon, I'd tell the doctor you're concerns.

  2. They say that kids are maturing faster these days because of the hormones in meat and in the water from birth control pills (the water treatment plants can't remove the hormones).  I don't know HOW true it is, or if it is just one of those things that those really paranoid people say.  8 seems a little early, but if you already had to buy her deodorant, it could very well be.  Good luck.

  3. I know puberty at 8 in girls is less unusual than it used to be, but I still recommend a check up by an endocrinologist to be sure something serious isn't causing premature development, like a tumor somewhere, especially if you don't have a history of precocious sexual development in your family.

  4. You said you had two other boys, right?  Girls most always mature faster than girls.  She could be going through puberty, but more likely she is just getting a little older, the in between stage.

  5. it may be thrush or it may the itchyness of the new hair growing in (like when you shave and it itches as it grows back). Best checked at the doc

  6. Hair always itches when its growing in. =] No worries.

  7. My 7 year old twins are prone to yeast, any time they are itchy and red in any way down their I know it is yeast.  If mom has ever had a yeast infection in her life then it is possible your daughter was born with it....

I would say it is yeast because several things contribut to a build up of the normal levels of yeast in our bodies... heat and the weather turning warmer can cultivate yeast, has she been eating a lot of sugar because that is what feeds the yeast and makes her crave sugar more and more?  Is she sleeping under a poly fill blanket or wearing polyester pants because these do not allow her little parts to breath?

Yeast does not always have a discharge or smell, sometimes it just itches...

Go to the health food store and immediately buy refrigerated acidophilous, they have chewable kinds for kids, give her one with each meal and feed her yogurt with live cultures... probiotics will fight the yeast 10 fold, you alway want to sitz her in a warm bath have her splash her area, teach her to clean it thoroughly and remove all the soap residue.

They always have active hair folicles in that area that barely grow... until the hormones line up just right it doesn't grow in thicker... I just don't think this sounds like the hair is the problem.

Of course I am not a doctor or midwife so you might want to call one to ask and be sure.

  8. I would say she is going through puberty. If you were to shave down there itches when it grows back.  My guess is that she is just becoming a woman. I would keep your apt. tho.

    Good Luck!

  9. It is possible, get her some cortisone cream and keep the appointment with the doctor.

  10. She could also have a yeast infection which would cause her to feel itchy. Yeast infections are common in girls who take a lot of bubble baths.

  11. It's possible.

  12. i didnt get my till 12!

  13. You won't like my answer.  This is a terrible place to seek medical advice.

  14. Children are maturing earlier and earlier. They have a medication that just came out for preventing early puberty (personally i think it's stupid) because it's happening really young now. So yes it's possible. Here is a great website explaining some signs and definitions.

  15. it might be from having s*x you might want to have a chat with her

  16. probablyy;
