Is public school as horrible as it seems?

so 2morrow is my 1st day at public school and highschool

and some people say its kool some say its fun and others make it seem like its a living h**l

but if you have friends from middle school going to the same highschool then you should be fine :D

I would have to disagree with John. There are no differences between private and public except one is full of rich kids the other isnt. If you send your kids to a private be prepared to pay the fees. Be prepared for bullying, teasing basically the same things you would see in a public.

The first two yrs i went to a public and i was passing every subject. My marks werent exactly high but they were average. My parents because they were christian decided to send me to this private school and the standards were too high. The teachers had their favourites and they were usually the rich. I was failing in every subject except english. Just because its private doesnt neccessarily mean your kids are safe. I wasnt. I was bullied and teased for being big. A girl in my class tied my school bag to the bag rack and i couldnt get it undone so my sister had to resort to cutting it with scissors,

Kids regardless of social status are all the time. However i do like the uniforms very fitting.

i go to a public school, i have just achieved great results and i have always found it a good enviroment. I know many people for private school and from my point of view it seems that there are more problems there with drugs and such, as these kids have the money for it! Public school is great i really enjoyed myself so dont worry just make friends!

Public school today is terrible.  If and when I have kids, I will do whatever I have to to provide a quality education for them without putting them through public school.  If that means private school or home schooling, so be it.  I'm 35 and the way public school is going, I'm afraid by the time any kids I have turn 5 or 6, public school will be worse than prision.

Yes it is.  The quality of education is very poor, the socialization is horrible and many of the teachers either can't or don't want to teach.

I've been a student and teacher at both public & private schools and I can tell you that it depends on the school you are attending.

If you are a rich, white, girl and you have left a private school to go to a low-income public school in which you will be in the minority, it's possible that you will be very unhappy, unless all of your friends already go there and you are more comfortable around that situation.  It helps if the school student body is from similar economic and social backgrounds as you are, but not necessarily.

i went through the same transition I went to private school and then public HS, I though it was perfectly fine, I actually didn't see a difference between my public and my private school i dont know if its becasue I grew up in a nice area or what, I guess the only difference was the religious angle, but its fine, just be friendly and outgoing, and you might have to leave you comfort zone!!!! But it's a new experience...
