is pure bondo(of course with hardener) or body filler hards like a plastic? cause im thinking of making a 1/4x1/4 of an inch thick of pur bondo without fiber for my project? is it as hard as a same thick plastic?

  1. bondo is a filler, so it is not as flexible like plastic.  it is more like paper mache, except it is waterproof. it is rather brittle in nature, it needs some sort of support like a body panel under it.

    i would use fibre glass resin.  you can form a mold out of cardboard and use the glass fibre cloth coated in resin and hardner to build up your part.

    be careful building up the thickness since the hardner generates considerable heat and thick casting may warp due to heat.


  2. Yes, But you need to use something to keep it from sticking to your mold. You might could try wax paper. It depends on what your trying to make. I use to restore old toys. I have molded whole fenders out of bondo.
