Is "I'm the man" a term used in golf?

I saw it on a tv show and on a video game so that made me wonder if golf players ever use that expression in professional golf games (or amateur ones) if true in what moment is it said in particular?

  1. Please don't.

As noted...using it in jest to ridicule your own play (missing a key putt) might work, but yelling it upon hitting a good shot is inviting every kind of bad karma upon yourself.

Do not mess with the golf gods.

  2. "You're the man" came from some no manner spectator at a golf tournament some time back on national TV when the player was ready to hit his putt.  Annoying and very out of style for the game of golf.

It is now used more as a joke or to self ridicule upon hitting a bad shot (hence "I'm the man").  It is also bad golf etiquette to say this to other players because it carries such a bad karma.

  3. sorry dont know. Never played or watched golf. I heard it in football.

  4. I'm the man is such an obnoxious statement.  Unless you're playing for fun with your good buddies, and want to rub it in, do not ever use it while in the company of strangers.

  5. if you use this term people will hate you, dont use it!

  6. Use it only in jest.   The more over used and tiresome phrase comes from the gallery just as a pro hits his drive or his putt, some over served, under educated slob yells out "U DA MAN" in an effort to feel a part of helping the pro make his shot.
