Well so far. yes. Except that Pyro has never passed War pass. In the alydar-affirmed Rivalry. Alydar beat affirmed a few times (including a DQ in the travers when Affirmed cut alydar off on the rail).

Way too early to compare anything to the rivalry of the ages. Great thinking, though, in trying to speculate on a historical perspective on the current duo. Hopefully, the lazy executives at NTRA will take note.

We wont know until they race. IN MY OPINION, i think Pyro is better

Well, the thing about Affirmed and Alydar is that they were constantly racing each other and it usually turned into a match race between the two horses and they would battle to the finish.  

Pyro and War Pass have met three times so far in their 5-race careers, but War Pass has come off as the better horse all 3 times... easily.  I think the longer distances and 2 turns will help Pyro a lot.  The thing is, Pyro tends to sit far back in the race and make a big late charge, but by then he can't catch War Pass.  Either the longer distances need to wear out War Pass or Pyro is going to need to sit closer in order to make a battle at the finish between these two horses.

I think it's hard to write off the Derby to these two horses yet.  There will be 18 other horses in the Derby and it's hard to say that they don't have a chance... particularly, there's a couple west coast horses who have shown that they're pretty talented.  And Asmussen himself has other promising colts like Mott and Zito do this year.

Well both these horses have proved that they are outstanding athletes and it is quite hard to decide which one is better.

I mean, we all have our own opinions. I personally think that War Pass is better. But.. there are many other opinions...

Now I think that maybe that could be the case... but another case could be a Secretariat and Sham... considering Sham was always right by Secretariat. But anything can happen!

I just have a feeling that the Triple Crown races this year are all gonna be another great year.. like last year...
