  1. I don't think so. It may have some Turkic origins though, as far as I can see from your picture I guess you are a Polish Tatar.

Edit: Gee lol I'm sorry then, I thought I was the only logical person to put her partner's pic as an avatar! *points her cartoon avatar*

  2. No, it is not a Turkish name. No way possible. Turkish sound system doesn't allow it.

  3. No!

  4. no it is not

  5. yes it is a turkish surname it's a very old  surname!!

  6. Sounds slavic enough to me :D

  7. No it isn't a Turkish last name but it can be a variation of a Turkish word that adopted to Polish.

  8. Because of the differences in pronunciation and spelling, I can't really understand, but as far as I know, ski and ek are the most common endings in Polish. So if you are searching for an ancestor name that is in Turkish you should look for skor rather than skorek. Skor could be a Polish form of Turkish word uskur (propeller of a ship) or some other word. It's really hard to understand. It could be that your ancestors immigrated to the Ottoman Empire from Poland and returned to Poland again.

You should somehow check with the Polish community in Istanbul. They could help you with your questions.

  9. I have asked my Turkish neighbors. Nobody has ever heard of Skorek as a Turkish surname.
