Is "The Academy" reality t.v. show a script?

Question

Recruits getting busted for wearing white socks with a suit, chewing food when talking to officers, dating,staying out late at bars etc. For those of you real cops is this the real nonsense that happens in a real police academy?

I thought only responsible people were selected for the police academy.

These are the bone heads that become police officers...

NO it is real life the way many academys are.

Here in Sacramento it is less strict

No it's just because that since the LA Sheriff's Dept is so large that they need as many deputies that they can hire. It's part of the learning process. If you haven't been through an academy you have no idea what you're talking about. Yeah some of these recruits are retarded and they don't know what they are doing, but you can't expect everyone to be perfect when coming from different backgrounds.

That is a REAL academy. Some academies are way more strict then others. But just because you do small things like that doesn't mean you're an idiot.

Most academies in large cities/counties are just like that.  Hopefully the boneheads are weeded out.
