  1. I read the book way before I watched the DVD, so to me it was very similar.  I probably didn't catch a all of what was changed.  As far as I could see, the DVD pretty much stayed with the theme of the book.  I really enjoyed both the book and the DVD a lot.

  2. I watched this with a friend who had just finished reading the novel and he pointed out many inconsistencies between the two, the biggest being that the storylines of certain characters in the book were sort of blended together or switched around to a certain extent in the movie (miniseries), apparently in order to simplify the story.

There's one scene that we both laughed at in which all of the sudden some new characters appear out of nowhere, with no explanation whatsoever.

He said overall it was pretty good though, considering the size of the book that they had to adapt from, and that they did a good job of capturing the feel of the novel.

  3. its pretty close, unlike alot of movies that come from novels, Th Stand is a pretty good representation.

King himself usually has a good influence when the movies are being made form his books.

  4. As someone already wrote - no.

A lot of things always get edited out or changed when a book becomes a TV show/ series or movie.

  5. For those who screamed,"No!" to this question "The Stand" as you may recall,is a gigantic novel and if they tried to include each and every nuance of the book,it would've gone on for a month at least. The Stand, is actually one The Best Adaptations of a book to come around in a long time and must therefore be taken on it's own terms. That said,it was faithful to the source material in a way that seldom happens(King learned from Carrie an The Shining not to let go of the film rights)so what you have is a suspenseful, sometime lyrical, often downright scary miniseries

  6. In a word...no.
