Is "ad" a Greek or Lating root?

I need to know if "ad-) is a Greek or Latin root and i also need to know if ad- is a suffix or prefix.

Give us an example of how you would use 'ad'.  Do you mean as in ADvertising?  In that sense, AD is a prefix, which comes before the root of the word; a suffix comes after the root.
