Is "better" better than "good"?

thanx all contributors ... no points.

i know the degrees... and i dont agree that better is always below good.

good < better < best

i agree it all depend on the context.

consider this

1. bad ... better = good ... better = best

2. worst ... better = bad ... better = good

3. then hows "better than the best"

    but its slightly worse than good

    &quot;Better&quot; implies that the subject had been not acceptable but is making some progress. It still might be below par.

  4. It depends on context:

    1) A new Chevy is good; a new Rolls is better.

    2) Gruel is better than mud to eat, but it&#039;s still not good.
