Like the other person said, it's a verb... people might think it could be singular or plural because you can put an 's' at the end of it but it's a verb so it's not singular or plural...(honestly I don't know how to explain it well in english haha even though I speak english like it's nothing I just learnt it better in french)

the verb TELL is used with plural subjects, if that's what you mean:

They tell stories.

We tell secrets.

He and his mom tell jokes.

You tell lies.

3rd person singular subjects would use TELLS:

She tells...

He tells....

It tells...

My friend tells.....
