I know this may sound like a dumb question but when the Queen visited our nation this past week, I was wondering if that is the same queen that was portrayed in the movie. I don't know too much about the English monarchy.

  1. The movie is BASED ON the current reigning Queen of England, the one who recently visited the U.S., but obviously the real queen did not play herself in the movie.

I haven't actually seen the movie, but I know the trailers discuss the death of Princess Diana, and the same Queen has reigned since long before then.
