I've been trying to figure out what I want to major in when I get to college since I'm graduating high school in January. Then soon after I will start applying to preferred colleges. I have been leaning towards Radiology. I really want to work in the medical field so I can have a steady career. I'm interested in anatomy, children and customer services.

  1. I want to be a Radiologist.

Its a lot of work though.

    4 years of college.

    4 years of medical school.

    4-5 years of radiology residency.

If your interested in anatomy then it is a good field.  Just don't expect a lot of patient contact being a radiologist, you'll be in a dark room reading mammograms, x rays, CT scans etc.

  2. You're confusing the two. Radiologist is a medical doctor, that requires you to be in med school and residency. Diagnostic imaging technician or Xray tech, which you had in mind, is an associate degree where you just setup the patient on the xray, MRI, or CT machine, shoot, develop, and do quality control. You do NOT do any interpretation of the images, only the radiologist does that.
