  1. No.

It is likely drinkable, as drinkable as water from most natural sources.  However, rain droplets will pick up pollution and dirt (picked up by the wind) as they form and fall.  Consider, the acid rain from the 70s and 80s (and that still falls on parts of the world).  The pollution picked up by rain literally killed off fish populations.

  2. It is clean to the point as to utilize it for gardening and possibly to drink.

There can be contaminants like Sulfuric Acid, Nitric Acid and Carbonic acid, with trace amounts of air borne pollutants. But in many cases it will be far cleaner than tap water in certain areas.

If to use for drinking, you should run it through a carbon filter.

  3. No way! Water's only clean when its purified from all the bacteria. Rain water's the same old water that evaporates, condenses, and precipitates. It's a cycle. Ever heard of "acid rain"? Its when chemicals or dangerous gases gets mixed in the air and it condenses and precipitates. Its really harmful.

  4. If it came through clean air, yes. Also, check out acid rain.

  5. No, it contains particulates (smoke, dust, pollution products, etc) from the atmosphere.

In most cases, however, it is probably not harmful to drink it, but even with filtration, I wouldn't drink rainwater from downwind of a coal-burning power plant or a copper smelter, for example.

  6. Yes, but it can catch pollutants in the air
