Is raja bell really a good defender or is his defense overrated?

i like watching him play because of his exciting threes and play, but is he really forreal in the defensive end, i mean kobe scores 30-50 points against him everytime, and other star players too. so whats your take on his defense?

stats dont mean anything when it comes to defending

we say the best deffenders are

bell, bowen, battier. but if you look at their stats you cant tell

but they all are good no matter if kobe scores 81 on them

I think he's an average defender, but look at the team he's on. Of course when compared to Steve Nash, your defense will look better. No offense to Nash, but he can't play defense.

If you compare Bell to the like of Artest and Bowen then he is overrated. But Raja is a good defender, considering the fact that his a guard and doesnt have really that long arms and huge body.

As a defender i think there are two things you have to consider, your skills defensively and your talent in intimidating.

Someone answered that stats dont matter in defense, he sure is right. Remember Posey and Pierce during the Finals you dont really see a change in their defensive stats but we all know how it affected the game of Kobe.

And in the case of Raja he's more of that intimidating rather than the skilled defensive player.
