Is raking leaves work?

Someone I know asked me this question (it has to do with science: work&simple machines.)

  1. No, work is moving a mass against gravity, so unless you are raking those leaves uphill, you are not doing work.


  2. In Physics, work is the expenditure of energy, so yes, raking leaves is work.
