I'm planning on going to college (don't know what career I'm going for) but I'm wondering if real estate is a good career to get into, if it is a financially stable career, and how hard it is to get into it.

  1. I know someone that just went to work for an estate agent in London. He was making coffees and stuff. 5 years later he got the hang of it and purchased his own house. 7 years later he owns 35 houses, each of it being worth about half a million UK pounds. In all that's about 35 million dollars but he isn't stopping, all homes are rented out and he's buying about 15 new homes every year.

He has no school qualifications, he just sussed out how to get his loan from the bank for the first home and then he repeated it.

He says the first one was the difficult one, now banks love to lend him money.

  2. It a kind of a sales job. You needs to be tenacious and persistent in sales. And often frustrating. Go for economic or business administration instead.

  3. It really depends on where you live. Some markets will be easy for you to go into.

The biggest mistake that people make is that they think that in order to get into real estate they have to waste college tuition money on it.

    Go to anthonyschools.com

I had the best experience there. You go to classes when you want to. If you go to college on Mons and Weds, you can take Tues Thurs real estate clases or weekend classes... they really work around your schedule. I suggest you don't do it online though. They have good instructors that taught me so much. Their instructors are current real estate agents. They teach you everything you need to know about the test. Learning about real estate is not something you can teach in books. The real estate courses you take at Anthony Schools are all about passing the test. That's the number one thing you need to worry about first.

Once you past the test, and get your license, investigate some of the best real estate agents or offices in your area and get the courage to professionally ask an agent if you can be their understudy and if you can shadow them and learn what you need to know. Unfortunately, you will have to work for them for free in the beginning months, since not every agent will pay for an assistant, or at least want to afford. But the knowledge they'll teach you is golden and nothing that you can learn in a book. Real estate is not all the same. There are so many ways of selling real estate that after you pass the test and get the license and actually start working WITH an agent, you'll realize everything you learned in your class does not pertain to real life.

IF you are serious about real estate, do these steps. About only 12% of the people that get their license in real estate actually use it and make a career out of it. That's because they invest all this money into getting their license without knowng anything abou it. They get so caught up on their stupid business cards and pictures and their logo and slogans and all the c**p that doesn't actually sell homes.

Don't listen to those scamming agents like on craigslist that promise you will make THOUSANDS of dollars. They are liars and use you sot that they can take advantage of your naive knowledge or real estate and will use you til you fail them, and you won't learn a thing. You have to learn real estate by experiencing it and that's the only way you can do it. And also, some of the key points in being a good agent you can't really teach, it's all within you - such as personality, salesmanship, etc. I worked with an awesome agent and he was able to teach me to not be a stuck up agent... it depends on the kinds of clients you want. But remember, you don't have to sell million dollar homes to be a million dollar agent.

Also, a good agent familiar with REOs and foreclosures or short sales will teach you a different angle in building real estate wealth.

Most importantly, keep your credit clean. When you learn about real estate, you'll want to use your tactics to do your own investing and make sure your credit is in good standing when you make that decision,

IF you have any further questions email me. Trust me, I've made almost every single mistake in real estate to know what to do and not to do.

Good luck. And careful with those agents that want to take advantage of you.... ther are a lot of sharks out there, I would unfortunately know.
