Yes it's a good idea, but a great idea would be to reduce them, or even eliminate them altogether. The process of creating plastic takes a lot of energy and puts a lot of fumes in our air. By recycling plactics, less must be produced to distribute products, which adds less fumes to our air. Although, that in some cases is an incorrect statement, due to the fact that some people get their energy from coal burning or nuclear plants, in which case there's no point in recycling plastics ( I can't believe I said that) because the fumes will be put in the air either way.

Recycling plastics is not only a good idea, but smart. I saw Ed Begley, Jr. on Jay Leno and he compressed milk cartons into boards for a fence, assembled a picket fence around his entire property. It has no upkeep because it doesn't rot,  discolor, and termites won't touch it. It will last almost forever!

It is an excellent idea, but some plastics are not worth sending to the recycling center. There are 7 different types of plastics and most recycling centers will only take types 1 & 2.  Your types 3 - 7 are better off being reused or repurposed.

reusing materials that have already been processed

reducing energy because product has gone through main processing and little needs to be done to it

reduces space in landfills when recycled

can be used in other areas from textiles to plastic lumber eases reliance on natural products

of course it is a good idea.

it reduces the amount of trash in landfills..

especially since when plastic is thrown into landfills it takes more years than we will be on the earth to breakdown. its terrible for the planet.

recycling is a great way to use our resources, plastic bottles can be crushed, etc. in order to make a new product. not recycling also threatens wildlife because when certain plastics are thrown away animals may consume it, choke and die. or they could get caught in it (ex. the plastic soda can holders with 6 holes.

It was my first thing I did with recycling.  Then I only knew of  one place to do it.  Now I find it at many places.  I think customers are requesting it.  I am now into my own bags.  I think it is a first great step.
