  1. Is it worth wasting water to wash out jars for recycling or is it just another waste! They say recycling paper saves trees, but they use 1000's of gallons of water in paper recycling factories.  We save someplaces and make it worse in others.

Who knows where the proper balance is.

  2. more recycling, more room in the landfills for other stuff, and for me (besides my belief I'm doing my part) less cost for dumping garbage.

  3. Nope.  I stopped recycling years ago, so only one pollution-spewing, resource-hogging truck comes to my house every week.

If we all refrained from recycling, just think of the difference we'd make!

  4. YES!  there are a LOT of products that are made from recycled items!  your grocery bags, paper, razor handles, etc... lots of items!  the point of it all is to help it spread like wildfire!  a lot of my friends don't recycle, but hopefully if they see me recycling and acting more friendly towards mother earth they'll follow suit.  this is the only earth we have, and it's on its 9th life, we'd better shape it up or we'll get shipped out!

  5. Studies have shown recycling paper or glass is well worth it  when compared to producing it from scratch, in terms of carbon emissions / use of natural resources / reduction of landfill use.

Recycling is not the ideal solution, a tool called the waste hierarchy classify the best environmental option as waste minimisation (finding ways to reduce the amount of waste produced), followed by re-use, recycle, energy recovery (burning) and finally disposal (landfill).

  6. yes indeed! if we all do recycling we can save the world. Let's face the reality that we are destroying the earth. Throwing rubbish, do you know that people in Japan wash their rubbish before disposing them in the bin. Like cans before putting the cans into the bin they wash them to remove the smell. For paper and plastics they fold them and put into the proper bin.

  7. Residential waste materials,Yes, if, every body does it. I live in an apartment complex with 250 apartments. There are a lot of green dumpsters mandated by the municipality for recyclables, but there nothing in them, no paper card board or plastics. The hauler is not going to waste any effort to contract with recycling companies, unless there is material to sell.

Education, is the key to residential waste recycling.

Commercial waste materials recycling, is already commonplace.

  8. No to a person that has no money worries. Yes to other people. I recycle everything.

  9. yes were do you think all you throw out goes and were do you think they get the resources to replace it. most big cities have mandatory recycling because there's not much more space for landfills so eventually you'll drown in your own trash

I live in a relatively flat area except for garbage mountain about 30 miles south of me it's about 300 feet tall an growing by the truck load however it's nearing capacity and will soon be closed. so the collectors will have to ship elsewhere which will probably cause a rate increase
