  1. Reining is going to be an Olympic Sport. It will be added to the Olympic repertoire at the 2012 London Summer Olympics. It is an official FEI sport and is competed at the FEI World Equestrian Games, which occur every fours years in even-numbered years where the Summer Olympics are not played, and the FEI European Championships, which take place every two years in odd-numbered years.

  2. The Official Equestrian Sports Are Dressage, Show Stadium Jumping) and Eventing. Eventing includes Xcountry, Dressage and jumping.

  3. Reining will be in the 2012 Olympics and if you know anything about Reining you will realize it is huge all across the world. Unlike other western riding events it has gain huge popularity since the end of the 90's. Trained Reiners are being shipped all across the world, mostly to Europe, but to other countries as well. If you are interested in finding out more, you should check out the National Reining Horse Association's website www.nrha.com.

  4. no, but it is quite international, and if you think of the numbers of horses that are ridden western and ridden english, and also take into consideration how many countries actually compete in reining then it is not so preposterous.  go to nrha.com for more info or fei site

  5. The Olympic games for equestrian is dressage, jumping and cross country jumping.

  6. reining was an exibition sport for a few years in the olympics. reining may be added in the future (it's in the works trying to get approval from the olympic commitee)

but right now no, it's not an olympic sport. like the other person said... dressage, stadium jumping, and cross country are the only equestrian sports

  7. Average Backyard Pony and Debi it is not unfair. Do you actually know what the Olympics are?

The reason why there is no western riding in the Olympics is because the Olympics is an international sporting competition and Western riding is not international. What is the point if the only competitors are Americans?

Having said that reining is in consideration for 2012. As far as I am concerned it shouldn't be because there are too few nations that compete in it.

  8. It's a bit unfair how they only have english style riding and not western =(

Here is the website that shows the dates and time

    http://au.sports.yahoo.com/olympics/spor...

  9. I'm pretty sure the only equestrian games in the Olympics are stadium jumping, dressage, and cross-country, but I could be wrong.

  10. Never actually thought about it before but I agree with Average Backyard Pony on this one. It is unfair and there should be more horse sports included.

Olympic Barrel racing would be a good start.
