Question:

Is religion a pseudoscience?

I saw this quote about it.

Pseudoscience cares only or primarily for the social values and commitments of its enthusiasts, and manipulates all else to support these ends.

This describes religion to a tee.

Not that there's anything wrong with it.

Darwin's evolution was considered one before he popularized it. Still is by a few people.

  1. I don't agree with your definition of a pseudoscience.

The thing with pseudoscience is that it purports to be science...most religions do not claim to be science.

Intelligent design is a pseudoscience, not a religion. Christianity is a religion, not a pseudoscience.

  2. No, because Darwin's evolution cornered the market in pseudoscience.

  3. Only as it's best does religion reach the realms of pseudoscience.
