My braces are coming off soon and they are saying now that I may need permanent retainer. The whole reason why I want my braces off is so that I don't have anymore stuff on my teeth that I can't remove myself, but than my mom said "Well...we'll just go with whats cheaper." And that's my problem... I do not know! So please tell whats cheaper!!!! =D

  1. Ask the dentist when you go in to have your braces removed.  They can give you a quote a lot better than anybody here could.

  2. The retainers usually are already part of your payment plan with the braces, so you shouldnt need to worry about paying it, because its already included to what your paying for already for your braces. I wouldn't recommend permanent retainers, they are a higher source to leaving plaque and you must keep greater care in dental hygiene and make sure that there isn't anything left in the permanent retainers. I would stick with a Hawley or Essix retainer.

  3. i think theyre the same price.

i had a removable for the top and i CHOSE permanent on the bottom...and it didnt cost anything more than the removable.

but keep in mind: if your gonna have the permanent (pros: dont have to worry about it or clean it, cant lose it, cant see it, dont have to "put it on", dont have lisp with it) they are still very easy to break. you really have to keep on watching what you eat - just like when you had braces!

i broke mine cause i am a baby carrot addict. when my ortho saw it had been slightly twisted, he got ti removed and then i had a removable one made for that row. i got a pressure point put on it to get my tooth back into its spot.

so if you wanna go with the removable one you really don have to be careful with what you eat!

(p.s. it didnt cost extra when i broke ym eprmanent one and needed a nother one made..it was jsut a hassle, and set me back a little bit in my treatment with retainers.)
