as long as it got no pork, then halal la sayang oi..

btw, nasi ayam also halal, ikan masin also, tempoyak, budu, cencaluk...bla..bla..

*the animal used in making the rendang shud be 'sembelih' in proper way, then it is halal. if got no pork , but the chicken fer example, is not the sembelih one [mybe mati kena langgar lori balak ka..] so that one is consider not halal in Islam..
