  1. Very good question.

The major forms, Solar and Wind, are NOT. That is the primary reason they are more expensive and not depended on as our primary source. The sun does not always shine and the wind does not always blow.

They are a wonderful source of energy and use of them in areas where the are practical will help reduce the amount of energy produced from our primary sources. We need to build more Nuclear plants for our primary source.

  2. No.  The sun doesn't shine 50% of the day, and the wind isn't always blowing, so there goes reliability of those popular solutions out the window.

  3. renewable energy can be classified into various types like solar, wind, tidal, geothermal etc. one thing that we have to make note of is that all these are natural sources of energy. so we do not have full control over it. renewable energy is reliable and constant but not available  all the time. for example solar energy cannot be harnessed on cloudy days and at night though sun is available everyday.

nuclear energy is the emerging source that can, with some careful study, become a major energy supplier.
