Have done a Section 8 rental before and it worked out well. I have a rental house I would like to rent to someone under the Section 8 program. Is it discriminatory to advertise to rent ONLY to Section 8 renters?

  1. I wouldn't think so, but it depends on the jurisdiction. You'll have to find out if Section 8 recipients are a protected class under the law.  I've never heard of this.  However, you should consult an attorney.

  2. No its not at all. It a for sure way to get your money every month!!!

  3. Only if you are in a city where you cannot discriminate based on source of income.  Here in Philadelphia I cannot discriminate based on source of income therefore I have to accept "assistance payments".  If I were to advertise "Section 8 only" then I could be charged with discriminating based on payment type.  Check your local laws to see if you have something similar.

    Good Luck!

  4. NO, but you need to say section 8 is welcome in your ad.

do not open the door for any low life--sick lawyer to sue you

play the game right my friend.

  5. Yes. Usually sec.8 rentals are advertised at a higher rate than market value and in neighborhoods where sec.8 is popular. That way only people with the voucher look at the property. Otherwise you can't discriminate for or against a renter who can come up with the money. Sad since its your property.

  6. No i dont think its descriminatory.. sometimes when i look at rental advertising they say NO section 8 in very big letters...Do you think that's discriminatory?
