This is certainly a zillion Rupee question in the mind of Indian business tycoons. There is no sure answer as yet though many politicians like Sm Mayawati and Sh Ram Vilas Paswan are making the noise once in a while; and those who are not expressing are also afraid to oppose it. After all, such sounds do fetch votes and a democracy is all about getting the maximum votes.

On the other hand though the Indian business man are opposing the demand - citing efficience and merit and profit and global competition - they just can't deny that they have been shrewed enough to extract from the government (the politicians rather) many concessions like tax breaks & cheap land. Should not they also pay something in return? Employment alone is no return to society because employment gives return on investment (i.e, profits). Industrialists themselves have coined the term "Corporate Social Responsibilty". Can't job reservation be a part of it?

Thus, I think although reservation has not yet been extended to the private sector this issue is to be addressed sincerely and properly by the industrialists. Sooner the better.
