Question:

Is reusing plastic water bottles really that bad for you?

Supposedly the plastic can leach chemicals. I just found this out, and I remembered that I used the SAME plastic water bottle for an entire year while in school. I would re-fill it up every day. Did I consume harsh chemicals?!? And what might happen? =\

  1. I have never heard of this being a problem. You should not microwave anything in plastic containers, plates, or cups because supposedly there are chemicals released into the food. I have been reusing water bottles for years. Often I have several reused bottles in the fridge with various flavors of Crystal Light in them.  I believe whoever gave you that information was confused with the Microwave warning.  I also reuse plastic juice jugs all of the time to make Ice Tea.  Plastic baby bottles are reusable.

I plan to continue the practice until something more definitive is published.

  2. i don't think so i re-use plastic bottles

  3. I dont think so. I have rinsed my water bottles out and reused them time after time

  4. No, I have done this for years. There is always some eejit bringing this kind of alarmist c**p out & I suspect it is the water companies themselves, just to get you to buy more new ones.If you wash them out carefully at least every day they are fine.

  5. YOU'RE GOING TO DIE!!!

Nah, jk. It's fine as long as you don't microwave it.

  6. It poses a health risk if it is microwaved. However, reusing plastic bottles is good for the environment and easier on your wallet.

  7. No there shouldn't be a problem at all. If you put a drop of dawn or something in the bottle, shake it up with hot water (thoroughly rinsing it) and let it sit while it dries out then you're okay :D!

  8. They should last you about maybe a year until they wear out.

Plastic of course wears out over time of use.

  9. i was reading in an article at my mother in laws that it is bad but i have dont the same thing and everything seems to be ok... i think its more of a hype to get you to keep buying water bottles and of a certain type, they also said leaving a bottle in the car to get warm also help leak the chemicals, i say if the water gets warm and kinda taste funny toss it other wise dont worry
