Question:

Is ridding a small, narrow saddle on a mountain bike bad?

My question is is it ok for my lower back to be hurting? I bought a mountain bike with no shocks just the metal frame, but I sit in a upright position.

I made some changes: I changed the width of my tires to a skinnier ones, slightly bigger than the road bikes, and I changed my saddle/seat to those skinny seats.

  1. The seat was the problem in my case. But I don't ride for hours and hours so I preffer my seat like that.

When your mountain biking it would be better to use the wide tire with lots of traction, and if your going down the mountain or slope, your going to want your back bent so you can move or stop abrubtly.

Just make sure you feel comfortable or it's not going to do much.
