  1. ya i would say so

  2. Yea of coarse!! Especially running...it helps alot with your breathing. And what would be even better is if you had a 10-speed bike!

  3. It's excellent! Cross training is especially important for swimming. It builds up lung capacity and works leg muscles. Go for long rides, and go up lotsa hills!

    Have fun!

  4. This is a pretty generalized question so I'm going to try and answer what I think you're asking.

Will biking help me get in shape for swimming?

No, not really as swimming works a great deal more of the body than biking does. You know the old adage: different sports work different muscles. Getting a 'feel' for the water is also important in swimming. The only thing that can satisfy this is to actually get in the water for a good workout.

Yes, biking will help you get in shape from a lung capacity and stamina perspective. But this is true for most cardio vascular activities.

If you're a triathlete then cross training like this is very helpful when aerobic activity is involved.

How much do you need to do?

To make this aerobic activity you'll need to keep your heart rate high for a minimum of 30 minutes per work out. How many workouts per day/week depends on what you're training for. To stay in reasonable shape one should perform aerobic activity at least 3 times a week. If you're a top level athlete then look at 5-10 workouts per week.

    good luck

  5. yep it strenthens your queads, calfs heart and abs

  6. Yes, biking helps with legs and calves, also thighs, and running does too, very effectively, you'll befit in no time, also strengthen your abs, this will help u swim mroe effectively. Good Luck :)
