  1. it's a boys and a girls name. Riley james is great for a boy. And Riley Ann or Riley Mae for a girl.

  2. It can be for either. I have seen Riley who are girls and boys.

  3. It is considered a unisex name. much like Bailey is.

i don't care for it. though it's cute on a puppy.

    thumbs downers:

as if i give a flip! it's overly common and hideous!

  4. more girls than boys but i guess it could go either way

  5. Riley can be used as a boys or girls name. It has become popular as a girls name in the past few years, so you hear it less for boys now.

  6. Both. I like the name.

  7. My son's name is Riley James!!! We have good taste!! When I named him that...it was mostly used on boys...but now I hear it more often as a girls name. I guess its cute for either..I personally think its sounds more masculine than feminine..I think the spelling Riley looks more boyish. But other spellings like Ryleigh or Rylee look girlish!

  8. I would give it to a boy, but like many names it can be used for either.

    ex:  Alex, Aaron/Erin, Sam...

  9. My best friends daughters name is Riley.  She was named after another Riley who was also female.

  10. I like it better for a girl.

it's a little on the sissy side for a boy i think.

    ♥

  11. it's a unisex name. i think it is being used more for girls right now.

  12. It's good for both a girl and a boy. I like the spelling Riley for a boy and Rylee for a girl.

  13. Well to me it's a surname but yes you can use it for both

  14. It is a boy name as well, but I prefer it as a girls name.

  15. It's masculine, therefore it's a BOY'S name.

There's nothing unisex, feminine, or girly about it.

  16. It could be either, I've met a boy named Riley and a girl named Riley. That's like the name sean for a boy and shawn for a girl, ryan for a boy and ryann for a girl, etc.

  17. It's a boy's name but would still be nice for a girl. My friend just named her newborn boy Riley.

That is why my spouse and I kept our daughter's name for ourselves until she was born. Then they have no choice but to accept it!

  18. Unisex.

    :-))

  19. It is unisex, so it can be for a boy or a girl, but personally I think that the name sounds better for a girl. I think it is a bit too feminine for a boy.

  20. Riley James is a unisex name and i think it is completely cute

  21. I don't like it for either, but I've heard it for both.

  22. Both.

I know of a 3 year old girl named Riley and a 5 yo boy named Riley.

  23. Well i have seen more and more baby boys being named Riley. I personally will always think of it as a girl's name.

But I'm also seeing a lot of girls being named Dylan or Ryan etc.

These days everything goes. Name your son what you want to name him.

  24. i know its a unisex name but all the rileys i know are girls. i know this is my own issue but my name is Dawn. and i get sooooo tired of telling everyone its not Don and NO i am not a male. after so many times it gets really old.

  25. Both! =) Orginally it was for a girl, and i picture it for a girl alot more. Its wayyy girly to me!

  26. I know boys and girls (more girls) with that name, but I wouldn't want my son to go to school with girls that have the same name.  Sorry :(

  27. It's such a boy's name it hurts. Nowadays, parents are misspelling boy names and using them for girls. Same thing happened to Jordan and Morgan. It's currently happening to Avery, Dylan, and Logan. It has charted for girls in recent years, but it really is a boy's name. I have a friend on here who agonised for months and came up with the masculine and cool Riley James for her second son. I wholeheartedly approve of the name!

  28. Nope, Riley is a boy name.

A lot of people name their girls Riley to be "different" when in reality they are just following the out of control and vastly growing "boy name on girls" trendy.

I love Riley James. It is handsome and definitely a boy name.

  29. I know a boy named Riley, but it can be used for either s*x. http://www.behindthename.com/top/search....

As you can see there, it's used for both sexes, but it's about twice as popular for girls.

  30. Riley is a unisex name

Riley as a BOYS name ranked # 109 in 2007, according to the SSA's website, and has been steadily on the list for at least the past 100 years (again, as a BOYS name).

I've heard it as both boys and girls names - as has most any mature person.

It is a good name, and one that works well. Keep it!

  31. i know a boy named Riley & there's a boy Riley on this TV show called The Boondocks. but Lisa Marie Presley's daughter's name is Riley, so it's both a boy's & girl's name
