  1. Well, it's probably not considered to be the best of manners, but honestly?  It's just food.  So long as you finish it and enjoy it, as opposed to wasting it, what's the big deal?

There are plenty of things you "aren't supposed to do" with chopsticks, and if you're in formal company, it's best you try to observe them.  Then again, when my (Chinese) inlaws have no problems stabbing, cutting, or prying things with their chopsticks.  You know, those "things you aren't supposed to do".  Then again, if you didn't do those things, I would wonder how in the world were you supposed to eat a number of things, like chicken feet.  Turns out, most people just grab those with their hands...another supposedly taboo thing to do in polite company.

  2. yes

  3. Yeh i think so.Especially if your in a restuarant

  4. It's exceptionally rude - imagine being the chef and watch someone rip apart your edible work of art. NEVER bite a piece of sushi in half and put half back on your plate. Always eat the whole thing. And one special note - never leave rice after a meal. It's considered rude to leave food after a meal, but leaving rice is considered especially rude. Sushi is finger food. It's okay to pick it up with your hands if you like. Sashimi, however, is not. Only use your hashi to eat sashimi.

  5. I think its just fine.. what if I particularly dont like something in the sushi! I wanna take it apart, and eat what I want! Unless of course you're eating with other Japanese people, its cool.

  6. What if you made me something that was hard to make , and then i ripped it apart . How would you feel ? Same principle .

  7. yes very. Ripping apart any food at the dinner table is pretty food. Ripping apart a burrito? Rude. Ripping apart a sandwich? Rude. It's also very rude to stab your sushi with the chopstick, or to try to check the sushi in half with your chopstick. Try to put the whole thing in your mouth, and if the mouthfull is so big that food is coming out of your mouth cover your mouth with a napkin, apologize and swallow.

  8. Yes.
